Dear Jiri and OL4A-Team, enclosed you will find a short technical report about the signal quality normally transmitted from our station. We have been doing extensive measurements as promised during the VHF contest in September. This report will later be published on our web page as well as at different Ok forum pages you are discussing our signal quality. However, we didn't find any faulty equipment. In contrary, as easily be seen everything is working fine and according to specifications. Of course, we can't exclude any mountain top phenomenon in September. However, I rather think that indeed everything was fine in September. Furthermore, as our little signal model in the report demonstrates the interference produced is mutually and due to the power levels, antenna systems, and distance involved inevitable. The station with its huge antenna system you have been built is very impressive. However, the ridge line along the Czech-German border is a quite interesting place for any avid VHF contester. Since there is no safety zone around any station to be claimed by anybody --- at least as far as we know --- we propose the following procedure: First, we could schedule operating for the different contest, i.e. we do for instance alternating operation. Second, when we both operate at the same time we have to make sure antennas do not point to each other meaning that you might only use a limited number of your antennas. Otherwise, there will be collisions again which s not a pleasant situation for anybody. As a first measure we hadn't been operating October and won't operate in November from JO60OM. Some more personal words from me you might consider thinking about in future: - Firstly, of all, when entering some other contest station knocking might be a good idea. - Secondly, I don't like your attitude when comparing your station and your goals to the ones of others. Our station seems to be small compared to yours. However, it is exactly as big as we want it to be with respect to the resources we want to invest. And, yes, we do have other objectives than you. We are absolutely happy when we achieve top ten in Germany. More we can't reach with our equipment. By-the-way it is the stations like us which let you reach the high qso numbers... - Thirdly, I'm very happy to discuss optimal operating strategies in the contest with you. Nevertheless, I think ours will differ quite a bit from the ones which suit you best. So, CW is quite effective for us giving us a lot of good DX qsos. Yes, and using the CW frequencies for us might imply for you to change operating frequency to higher in the band. Since again there is no right of frequency for anyone... So, hopefully we will hear you in the Marconi contest. Wish you good luck for that particular contest. Next season I think we are able to achieve a friendly side-by-side. However, sacrifices have to be made on both sides. Discussions will be of course necessary and are very welcome. We are looking forward to hear from you. 73 de Pit, DK3WE on behalf of the whole DF0MTL contest crew.
